Soggy Walking

Last weekend Kym and I stepped up our walking routine and began doing 5 miles on the Riverpark trails here in Tulsa. It was great and completely addicting. Kym’s been doing a great job returning there everyday, but yesterday was my first visit back. It was raining too, but we didn’t let it stop us.

Sure we got a little soggy and even though we had a 7 year old at home with her grandparents crying because she thought we were gonna get struck by lightening, it was really fun. There is something very refreshing about walking in the rain. It was also a lot easier. Overheating was not a factor and though we didn’t have a watch or phone with us to time, I’m pretty sure we did it in our best time.

I lost 2 pounds to boot so I’m gonna stuff yesterday in my “kick ass” pocket.  It’s a pretty big pocket and not just because my pants are XXXL.

And I gotta work on this picture issue. I miss showing my mug everyday.

WTF…

Weird. I gained a pound and my calories were low. Maybe they were too low. Or maybe it’s just a case of “it happens,” but I really have no reason. Stress maybe? I didn’t have my afternoon coffee and I didn’t have my nightly bowl of Super Fiber Man cereal. Maybe that could be it too. A combination of all maybe? What the shit, man?

I’ve been trying to get back to the old normal routine today– you know– the one that’s been working for me. Let’s see if I can crawl out of my funk and do it. I just seem to be stalled in the upper 330s and it’s starting to piss me off.

It’s been a few days since my lazy ass posted on this so let me just run through some quick stats to catch you up.

Thursday 6.4.09 – 341 lbs

Friday 6.5.09 – 340 lbs

Saturday 6.6.09 – 337 lbs

Sunday – 6.7.09 – 338 lbs

And then today (6.8.09). . .

Weight: 337 lbs

Body Fat: 57.0%

Calories Yesterday: 1792

This weekend I was determined at least not to gain. Kym and I walked 5 miles on Saturday (and went to the mall later to walk more) then on Sunday I had 2 separate walks totaling 7.5 miles. So that’s a weekend  total of 12.5 miles. And the crazy thing is that I like it. It’s both physically and mentally satisfying. I was a little beat down by the heat and downright exhausted after all walks, but I still felt good. Amazing even.

So as you cans ee above– Friday I weighed 340 and today I weigh 337. So 3 pounds lost over the weekend! In your face, Weekend, you nasty seductress with your temptations of feasting and revelry.

This is even more badass when you consider what I actually did eat and drink over the weekend.

Here’s a list:

  • Sausage and Cheese Toaster Scramble
  • Turkey Sandwich (or Samdwish as I typed on my log)
  • Half a basket of Fried Calamari
  • A plate of Lobster Ravioli
  • Bread and that good ass balsamic oil stuff they give you at Ciao
  • 2 Salmon Patties
  • Mashed Potatoes
  • Corn on the Cob with Butter, baby
  • Salad with Italian Dressing
  • 2 Big Slices of New York Style Pizza (Big Ups to Sam Wood and Mario’s)
  • 3 Bottles of beer
  • 1 Bottle of Wine

See. Who says you can’t have fun on the weekend? You just have to equally work your ass off. But even that was a good time.

Lost Weekend

(Why can’t I upload pics, wordpress. WHY?!)

Been a few days since I posted. Sorry. Business and dramarama (not the band) has kept me away from bloggage. I’m down one pound since the last I’ve posted. In the days missed, I got into the 330s, then had a “little” gain (little = 5lbs) and then the subsequent losing of aforementioned gain. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again– weekends are hard.

I pumped iron again at the YMCA on Monday. Steenveld talked me into bench pressing and doing other beefcakey stuff. I’ve wanted to kick his ass ever since. But I can’t. Because I can’t lift my arms. I’m a jackass I know. My wife warned me, but you know how men get when their wives warn them of something– they want to do it even more. Yep, that’s me. Wife always knows best and I’m not just saying this because she’s probably reading it right now (love you, honey).

Right now I’m listening to the band Iran. Very kick ass. I suggest you do the same. Kip, I believe, from TV on the Radio is in this band although it doesn’t really have the same sound.  Probably even more accessible than TVOTR, it’s just really good “indie” rock with very catchy pop hooks and great vocals. Random, I know. Just saying.

Back to work . . . More later. . .  How about more of these (. . . ) . . .

Another Weekend is Here

(WordPress still won’t let me upload a pic. I’m sure you’re sad not to see the same close up of my face everyday . . . )

Well, here we go– another weekend. Will I have a full weekend of no pounds gained? I’m not trying to stress too much about it. The last few days of this week have gone REALLY well and I obviously bounce back quickly from a pound or two gained over the weekend. It’s still frustrating to have to do that work all over again. What happens happens. I can only do my best not to sabotage it.

I sound like Stuart Smalley over here.

I’m good enough.

I’m smart enough.

And dog-gone-it people like me.

And I won’t eat my weight in nachos on the Lord’s day.

(I’m posting this sans-picture simply because Firefox keeps crashing every time I open the uploader. What the French?)

Good day. Neigh– great day.Yesterday I went down another notch on my belt. It was the last notch, mind you, so next time I’ll have to buy a new belt. I just may buy some new pants while I’m at it. How do you fancy that, pant sniffers (and non-pant sniffers)?

I really really really enjoy exercising. And by “exercising” I simply mean walking and, in yesterday’s case, mowing our huge-ass lawn. (Are my commas even in the right spot? Why am I punctuation-deficient?). I’m telling you, folks and folkettes, eating right and simple exercise really is the way to go. I haven’t felt this good in years.

I don’t know if this is a realistic goal, but at this rate I’m thinking I could be under 300 by the end of the summer.

Tired and Stuff

I overslept. This is never a pleasant way to start the day. I haven’t done this since being on CPAP, but I stayed up really late last night. It’s my own douchebagery, I know. I didn’t even get everything done last night that I wanted to do. I need more hours in the day.

Once again I find myself working off what I gained over the weekend. At least it’s only 2 pounds I’m working off, but still. It was also a long holiday weekend so it made it a bit tougher. These are all lame excuses, of course, but I do feel this coming weekend will fare much better (or is it “fair” better? Synonyms are hard).

Firsts

Despite my scraggly appearance in the picture, today is the shit. I am an agent of S.H.I.T. (Bad Nick Fury reference).

For the first time since I’ve been doing this, I lost a pound on a Sunday Weigh. Another first– a body fat percent in the 50s (It’s been hovering between 63-68%).

I was worried too. As you see, my calorie count was over 2000. This was not a burrito binge. That was all due to the bottle of wine I drank while home alone yesterday listening to 70s punk and writing a short script about QuikTrip. Yeah, a whole bottle and yes QuikTrip.

I was drunk as all hell too, but I felt great this morning especially after the weight-in. Take that, Sunday, you dick!
